What we believe…
About God:
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 8:6)
About Jesus:
We believe Jesus Christ (Christ = “Messiah” or “Anointed/Chosen One”) is fully God and fully human. We believe He was born of a virgin. We believe He lived a sinless earthly life. We believe that His miracles were authentic. We believe He died in the place of all humanity on a cross, He was truly resurrected, and ascended back to heaven.
(Colossians 1:15; Philippians 2:5-8; Matthew 1:18-25; 1 Peter 2:24-25; Luke 24; Hebrews 4:14-16; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18; Romans 8:34)
About The Holy Spirit:
We believe in the personality and deity of the Holy Spirit. We believe He gives life, He empowers and works in us to make us more like Jesus, and comforts all believers. We believe it is through His power that we are spiritually reborn.
(Romans 8; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13; Matthew 28:19; Acts 2; John 3:5-8; 16:5-15)
About The Scriptures:
We believe the entire Bible is the unique written word of God – a unified story that leads to Jesus – and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is trustworthy and reliably fixes the boundaries of everything God will ever say to humankind.
(2 Peter 1:21; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; Psalm 119:89, 160; Isaiah 40:8)
About Humanity:
We believe humanity was created to be imagers of God. God gave Adam specific instructions that were to be obeyed. Through disobedience, Adam and the human race are alienated from God and incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own effort.
(Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:10, 23; 5:12-21; John 3:3; Acts 13:38-39)
About Salvation:
We believe humanity is saved only through a believing loyalty to Jesus and His finished work to reconcile us to God. We believe when we turn and express faith in this manner, we receive eternal life and are declared not guilty before God by His grace alone. We believe baptism is not necessary for salvation but is an act of obedience.
(John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 5:1-2; Romans 10:9-10; Colossians 1:19-20)
About The Church:
We believe the Church is the body of Jesus, is composed of all true believers throughout the world, and whose purpose is to glorify God. We believe local assemblies of believers are an expression of the Church, and in and through these local assemblies the present work of the Church is carried out: the worship of God, loving and teaching people, and making God known to those who don’t know Him.
(Acts 2:41-42; 15:13-17; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 4:12; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8)
About Jesus’ Return:
We believe in the personal and bodily return of Jesus. His return will complete our salvation and establish the fullness of His Kingdom.
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-17; Acts 1:9-11; Matthew 25:31-46)
